Steps We Take
1) Vector file = .eps or Adobe Illustrator type file. The red line indicates to the laser to “CUT.”
2) Rastor file = .jpeg or Adobe Photoshop type file. The black image indicates to the laser to “ENGRAVE.”
Vector files can hold information for the laser to both cut and engrave a material.
Rastor files typically hold information to engrave a file.
Following is a photo journal of the steps of engraving.
The art file is then sent to the laser interface through the print driver. This is where the knowledge and experience comes in for better results. The laser settings (power, speed, & pulses per inch) make all the difference. Too high a setting or too slow a speed and you ruin the piece.
